Just like the title says. What is your favorite type of reptile? For regular pets, see this thread.

Mine? I would have to say Geckos. I used to have a Leopard Gecko:

My favorite type of reptile is either a gecko or a bearded dragon. My spouse and I went to our local Petsmart a few years ago and we looked at the different animals. There was a bearded dragon that noticed us and came over to the side of the tank, and it looked like he or she had a smile on their face! We couldn't bring them home though, we didn't have the space for another pet and we actually never took care of reptiles before.

If you want to ever get into caring for a reptile, I recommend a Leopard Gecko, or a Corn Snake. Those are both on the more beginner-friendly side.

I would also advise AGAINST purchasing a reptile from major pet stores. They usually do the bare minimum and their health isn't always very good. I would look for small dedicated reptile or exotics shops and reputable breeders. You'll usually get a much healthier reptile that way.

I voted for gecko even though I do not like these creatures. However. there is a reason why I voted for Gecko. When I was in my teens, geckos made my room their house. No matter what I did they always came back. When all my attempts of chasing them failed, I started watching them. Then one day, I got an idea for a novel. The novel is still incomplete.

Haha, I can understand that. Some geckos are considered invasive. But ones that you keep in a tank, like Leopard Geckos, can actually be fun to care for sometimes. That is, if you don't mind feeding them live insects (usually best to get those from a pet shop or reputable breeder, not from around your garden as ones from a shop/breeder usually are safer and much less likely to have diseases).

I love the picture! Geckos are my favourite too, they're really cute and I spend ages checking them out at the pet store. I don't think I'd be able to own one though, as I hate insects and always avoid the live ones used for food at the store.

Yea, Leos basically need the food to be live, they rarely go after dead ones, since they see them when they squirm around on the ground.
